Throughout the year the Island is home to many festivals. Probably the most famous event is the Isle of Wight Festival; originally held in the 60’s/70’s in Freshwater, some of the world’s greatest rock bands graced its stage. Relaunched in 2002 the festival is now held on Seaclose Park in Newport
The Isle of Wight Walking Festival is 2 weeks of organised walks. This festival offers leisurely walks, energetic hikes or even go on a speed dating walk. You can also choose to Walk the Wight and get sponsored for a local charity.
If you love your jazz music, 10 minutes drive into Ventnor you will find the home of the Isle of Wight Jazz Festival.
In August the Island hosts one of the world’s biggest boating regatta, Cowes Week. This is a week of yacht races during the day and parties in the evenings, climaxing at the end of the week with a spectacular firework display.
The last festival of the year is the Bestival, a boho music festival running over a three-day weekend with some of the worlds best past and current music acts performing, along side little known acts which you would not discover anywhere else. The Bestival also holds the world’s biggest fancy dress party.
